Eight Months

IMG_7425 I’ll sit here, but I don’t have to like it!IMG_7431 I’m outta hereIMG_7404Nice try with the bunny, mom. But I’m still outta here.IMG_7409I’m so big, I can stand up!IMG_7412 See how much better this is? Told ya I don’t need that chair.

Our little girl isn’t so little anymore. At last check she weighed 16 pounds 15 ounces. She is crawling everywhere, as you can tell by the bright red knees, and is getting very fast. She’s also pulling herself up and cruising around furniture. She loves to hold your hands and walk around, and she gets really excited if you go fast and help her “run.” She’s extremely curious about her world and loves to explore everything from cords to the doggy bowls to electrical outlets…which is definitely keeping me on my toes! She seems to have no fear and is pretty tough, even taking a couple of big tumbles without batting an eyelash. We’ve had some tears, but I think those were mostly out of frustration that she couldn’t figure out how to get what she wanted more than from pain. I have a feeling we’re in for a very adventurous toddler!

This week she’s discovered the joys of looking out the windows and front door. She loves being close to Lola, and Lola loves being around her as well (if licks equal love, anyway.) Haidyn is waving, clapping, and will sometimes show you that she’s “so big!” by raising one arm above her head. A couple of times she’s done the sign for “all done” after eating, but I haven’t seen it in a few days. She also talks ALL THE TIME. It’s adorable to listen to her – I just can’t wait to find out what’s going on in that head of hers. Mornings are still super fun with Haidyn. She gets excited to see you when you get her out of bed and has to go wave hello to daddy and Lola before you can do anything else. She’ll snuggle up to your shoulder when she’s tired and even gives kisses by opening her mouth and putting her lips to yours. Ahhh…sweetness.

I feel like Haidyn learns something new every day, and I’m so thankful that I get to be home with her this year to experience everything. I just can’t believe how much she’s grown and changed already. I know it’s only going to get more and more exciting. Jonathan adores her and is completely fascinated by everything she’s learning as well. Parenthood is definitely the greatest gift we’ve ever been given. We love this little girl so much!

Cousins

Sarah, Samuel and Joseph stopped by yesterday to play for a little bit.  It was so fun to see Haidyn interacting with her cousins.  The only problem was that she doesn’t know how to share…every toy that Joseph tried to play with, Haidyn tried to take from him.  Poor guy!  He did give her an excellent eye roll, though, so I guess that was his way of getting back at her.  I’m so excited to watch these three grow up together.  And we can’t wait to meet Baby Glasser #3 and add another one to the group!

IMG_7369Since Haidyn has been crawling so much the past few days, her knees are red and raw from the carpet.  It’s been interesting trying to find things for her to wear – they have to cover her knees, not get in the way and keep her cool in this terrible heat.  Yesterday it was pink leggings, her “I Love Daddy” onsie and a ridiculously big bow.  It’s a good thing we didn’t have anywhere to go.IMG_7371 IMG_7374

Summer Updates

Okay, so as usual I am totally behind on blogging. I have lots of pictures from our summer and want to get them all on here, but I’m trying to keep things in order. Honestly my reason is that I was planning on doing a scrapbook of Haidyn for her first year…but that hasn’t actually been started, yet…so I thought if I could keep things in order by date on the blog it would help me when I finally get around to starting her book. So you might have to jump around a bit if you want to get caught up on our lives. And I’m sure that’s what all of you want to do, right?!?

I can’t believe it’s already August. Where has the summer gone? I really thought Haidyn and I would spend most of it at the pool, but it’s just been so hot. They say it’s the hottest summer since 1980, which is the summer I was born. I think that’s kind of cool that Haidyn’s first summer was super hot and my first summer was super hot. Okay, maybe “cool” isn’t the right word for it, but you get my point.

A few people have asked me recently what we’ve been up to. After drawing a complete blank, I realized I wasn’t really sure. I mean, I feel super busy and the days go by really fast, but sometimes I have no idea what we did all day! It’s nuts. But here’s what I can remember: Haidyn and I have been going to music class on Mondays. It’s a fun way to get out of the house and meet other moms and babies. I’m also having fun planning and making lots of meals during the week. (I think Jonathan is loving that I’m back to cooking more as well. He even asked if he could cook dinner one night this week…he said he misses being in the kitchen…sweet guy!) We also try to get out a few times for lunch with friends or to see Haidyn’s cousins. Jonathan is able to come home a lot for lunch, so that’s also a fun break for us. Other than that, our days are filled with lots of crawling, trying to pull up and walk, playing with toys, reading books, and snuggling. It's a great life.

All my teacher friends are gearing up to head back to school, so I’m going to have to get serious about keeping Haidyn and myself busy during the week so I don’t get too sad. I am so, so thankful for this year with her. I know it’s going to be an amazing thing to be home with her and to watch her grow and change and to teach her all kinds of things. I also think it’s going to be really fun to get out with her as she gets a little bit older and do some things around town. It’s just a really different kind of year for me, and I’m still figuring out my role as a stay-at-home mom instead of first-grade teacher. Love the change, but it’s definitely different.

A few pictures of our bathing beauty this summer. I bought a pool for $8…best $8 I’ve ever spent! We’ve enjoyed lots of fun in the sun – or shade, really – with this thing. And thanks to Kylie and Emmie for the DARLING suit! Jonathan won’t let us out of the house in it, but I think we’re ready if Hollywood calls. (That’s what my mom used to always say, like why she wore lipstick to the grocery store. You know, in case Hollywood calls.)
